Dresses
Another one of the dear packages I carefully brought home in the rain is a new book from the Victoria & Albert Museum. Instead of the usual haute-couture array, Horrockses Fashions chronicles the heyday of a crisp, cotton ready-to-wear dress company in Britain from the 40's through the 60's. It's full of candid shots of everyday women in brightly patterned dresses, vintage advertisements, and the cloth binding of the book is a pink and white lace Horrockses pattern. While the company name is certainly unfortunate (albeit memorable) the book is fabulous and has filled me with inspiration for some of the many vintage frocks awaiting a little sewing care!
